Women in Sports by Rachel Ignotofsky

Hello again my lovely Wallflower! I hope you are doing well and finding time to take care of yourself in this crazy world. Today is National Women and Girls in Sports Day, and in honor of this day, I wanted to share with you a quick book recommendation by one of my favorite authors.

Rachel Ignotofsky is an author and illustrator who has created a series of books featuring amazing female pioneers throughout history that I have been enjoying since I was in elementary and middle school. One of the books in this series is called Women in Sports: 50 Fearless Athletes Who Played to Win and I thought it would be the perfect recommendation to share with you all to celebrate women and girls in sports. The book features the stories of female athletes throughout history with 2-page spreads dedicated to the life and legacy of each athlete. Each spread features a full-page illustration of the athlete made by the author herself and her illustrations are beautiful! I recommend her books to people of all ages, but especially teenage girls and aspiring athletes of all genders.

If you want to support women and girls in sports check out Women Sports Foundation. The organization was started by the incredible female athlete Billie Jean King. This organization does amazing work in the athletics world, and is more than worth supporting!

Who are your favorite female athletes? How have they inspired you? Share them in the comments below!
